Some shops chase trends. Famous has been outlasting them since 1939.
It started with Rose Zaretsky and a 350-square-foot luncheonette in midtown Manhattan that sold cigars over the counter. Her son Arthur grew up outside that door, and he's the one who turned it into one of the biggest premium cigar retailers in the country.
The family has a habit of getting there first. Famous mailed its first catalog in 1970 (a typewritten price list), launched its website in 1997, and in 2000 moved the whole operation from New York to Easton, Pennsylvania. Today that's home to the warehouse, a walk-in retail store open seven days a week, and Leaf Cigar Bar right next door.
What that means for you: a deep catalog of the big names and the hard-to-find stuff, real deals on boxes and bundles, and accessories and humidors all in one place.
Still family-owned, still obsessed with keeping cigars fresh. If you're stocking up for the holidays, start here.
