Drew Estate
Meet The Nicaraguan Daydream. Nica Rustica Connecticut Shade is inspired by the calm mountain air of Estelí, Nicaragua, and handmade at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate. A silky Ecuador Connecticut Shade wrapper sits over a Mexican binder and a filler blend from Nicaragua, the United States, and the Dominican Republic. The result is mellow and buttery smooth with hints of wood. Lush. Velvet. Smooth. It's an everyday cigar made for slowing down, and it pairs perfectly with an espresso macchiato or a blended Scotch. Available in Short Robusto (4.5 x 50), Toro (6 x 50), and Gordo (5 x 66).

The Giant Piles That Help Give Cigars Their Flavor
Some cigar tobacco actually creates its own heat before it ever reaches the rolling table.
Ever wondered how tobacco leaves develop the flavors and aromas found in premium cigars?
After curing, cigar tobacco is often gathered into enormous stacks called pilones (also known as burros). As the leaves' natural moisture, weight, and biological activity interact, the center of the pile generates its own heat. No oven required!
This process is known as tobacco fermentation, and it's one of the most important steps in developing cigar tobacco. The natural heat helps release ammonia and other volatile compounds while the leaves' color, aroma, and flavor profiles continue to develop.
Here's where it gets interesting: workers regularly monitor these piles and carefully take them apart, rearrange the leaves, and stack them again. This allows tobacco from the hotter center and cooler outer areas to switch places, helping control the fermentation process.
So before a cigar is ever rolled, some of its character is already being developed inside a giant pile of tobacco!
🔥 Next time you enjoy a premium cigar, remember that its flavor journey started long before it reached the rolling table.
