SOME CIGARS ARE BOX PRESSED ON PURPOSE
Not all cigars are perfectly round. Some are intentionally shaped into a square or rectangular form known as a box-pressed cigar.
The process happens after the cigars are rolled. They are placed tightly into boxes and allowed to rest, causing them to take on a flatter shape over time. This technique dates back to the days when cigar makers wanted to fit more cigars into a box and make them easier to transport.
Many smokers believe box-pressed cigars offer a more comfortable feel in the hand and mouth, and some say the shape can create a slightly different draw and flavor experience.
