Tobacco seeds are incredibly tiny. Depending on the variety, a single gram can contain roughly 10,000–12,000 seeds. Because they're so small, growers typically start them in carefully controlled seedbeds or trays rather than planting them directly into a tobacco field.
Those microscopic seeds eventually grow into plants several feet tall, producing the massive leaves that can ultimately become the wrapper, binder, and filler in your favorite cigars.

The Westminster has been a staple of Jack Schwartz Importer since the 1950s. Originally named after the old Westminster Building that Jack Schwartz occupied, it began as a true Cuban blend and quickly became a crowd favorite among loyal customers.
With the Cuban embargo, production moved to Honduras under Villazon. The Westminster continued with new ingredients while keeping the exceptional quality customers expected. Later, Los Libertadores (which became La Flor Dominicana in 1996) formed a lasting partnership with Jack Schwartz Importer that only grew stronger over the years.
Eventually, Billy—now owner of Jack Schwartz—saw a chance to modernize the line while preserving its tradition of top-notch quality at a great price. Production was then assumed by La Flor Dominicana and continues today at their factory in the Dominican Republic. Hundreds of thousands—if not millions—of Westminsters have been enjoyed over the decades. Jack’s dream lives on in 2026.
